The coziness of your home starts with precise millimeters. For your curtains to hang perfectly, take measurements only when you have already installed the curtain rod or track.
🛠️ Tools for maximum precision
- Ideally: use a laser measure - it eliminates errors and ensures 100% accuracy when measuring height.
- Alternative: a stable construction tape measure (it is stable and does not bend). Avoid soft tailor's tape measures.
How to measure if SEWING SERVICE IS NOT REQUIRED?
(By choosing this option, you are only purchasing fabric by the meter and taking care of the sewing yourself.)
When purchasing fabric only, you must estimate the additional meters for hems and pleats yourself.
- Fabric width: add as much fabric as you want fullness to the length of the track. Professional recommendation - multiply the track length by 1.5, 2 or 2.5.
- Fabric height: always add to the desired final height:
- Top: +10–15 cm (depending on the width of the curtain tape used).
- Bottom: +15–20 cm for a double aesthetic hem (to add weight).
Don't forget: add an additional 10 cm for side hems (5 cm for each side).
How to measure if SEWING SERVICE IS REQUIRED?
(By choosing this option, you specify the desired final dimensions, and we take care of the technical solutions.)
A. WIDTH
Measure not the window, but the length of the curtain rod or track along which the curtain will move.
Track (ceiling or wall-mounted): measure the entire length of the track from one end to the other.
Rod: measure only the length of the rod between the decorative finials.
Wall-to-wall: If the track spans the entire width of the wall, measure the distance between the walls and subtract 2 cm so that the curtains can move freely and do not rub against the sides.
Important: Please provide the actual length of the track in your order. We will calculate the required amount of fabric ourselves (1.2, 1.5, or 2 times more) to create beautiful pleats.
Using a laser, place it on the floor under the track and direct the beam upwards. Measure in 3 places (left, middle, right) - if the floor is uneven, use the smallest number.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: If the curtain consists of several parts (e.g., a split at terrace doors) or different fabrics – enter the dimensions of each individual part into the calculator, not the total sum for the window.
B. HEIGHT (Measure in 3 places)
Using a laser, place it on the floor under the track and direct the beam upwards. Measure in 3 places (left, middle, right) - if the floor is uneven, use the smallest number.
Starting point (Top):
- From the track: measure from the bottom of the track (where the hook is attached).
- From the rod with rings: measure from the bottom of the ring (eyelet).
- Curtains with grommets (rings in the fabric): measure from the top of the rod and add 3 cm (this much fabric will be above the rod).
Ending point (Bottom):
- Standard: subtract 1-2 cm from the floor.
- Luxury: add 5-15 cm (curtain stylishly rests on the floor).
- Kitchen/children's room: subtract 1 cm from the windowsill surface.
